FAQs about hotels in Chicago

Our Kind of Town

Standing proud beside Lake Michigan, Chicago is down-to-earth, friendly, and full of culture. It has outdoor art by famous artists including Chagall and Picasso, and there are some fascinating architectural works from the Art Institute of Chicago.

Home to blues and house music, Chicago has an eclectic music scene that reflects its spirit. The Windy City is also a pioneer in a variety of Americanized dishes from it's European immigrant roots like deep-dish pizza and the Chicago hot dog.

The world’s first skyscraper and Ferris wheel were erected in Chicago. The latter, on Navy Pier, is one of the Midwest’s most visited sights. Also famed is the ‘L’ transport system, whose raised trains circle The Loop, the main business district. Check out its skyline reflection in the shiny bean sculpture in huge Millennium Park.

Home of the Bulls and Bears, Chicago is a stronghold of sport and has teams playing baseball, basketball, American football and hockey, to name a few. If you get a chance, try to catch a game.

Chicago Midway and Chicago O’Hare Airport are both on the outskirts of this vast city, so make sure to leave enough time for travel from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or hostel. And all that jazz.

I was not too impressed with New York City when I visited...

I was not too impressed with New York City when I visited last year for the first time, so I was curious to see how Chicago would compare. I was completely amazed by Chicago! The architecture is stunning. You can really just walk around anywhere and see beautiful buildings all around you, or ride the L-trains around the tops of beautiful 19th century buildings, without even going on a walking tour. There is a ton of stuff to do. I happened to be visiting on the two days of the year when they have 'Open House Chicago', so I couldn't possibly cram in all the places I wanted to see. I actually came for a concert, but my days were filled because Chicago has so much to offer. It is easy and cheap to get around on public transport. Food options were good, even on a budget, and there are lots of interesting museums and great neighbourhoods to explore. I didn't even see any theatrical shows because there was too much else to do, but it looked like there was lots of great theatre there, too. People were helpful and friendly, especially the L-train staff, and the city seemed fairly clean and safe, even when wandering around in the nighttime or early morning hours. I recommend visiting Hull House and Glessner House if you are interested in the arts, architecture, or history. I look forward to future trips to Chicago to explore even more of the culture this city has to offer.

Chicago is my home town and things have changed immensely since I was kid. One of the most enjoyable things for me was walking from our hotel to Navy Pier and taking the lakefront boat tour. At 45 minutes it’s the perfect length of time and just enough narration to appreciate the city’s past and enjoy its beautiful skyline and lakefront green spaces. I’ve avoided Navy Pier in the past, but this time my tween grandkid was along so we went and it was perfect! While there are some costly aspects there are also less costly options that still provide lots of fun. I drove and we visited Chinatown. Parking was a mild challenge, but the tween loved all the fun treats and I loved the happy people watching. The warm fall weather was a great bonus!

The area around the Magnificent Mile hotel was clean and safe. Plenty of dining options for all types of cuisine whether casual or fine dining. The architecture is beautiful and the skyline is amazing. The lake & river add so much to outdoor activities. Museums are top notch and adjacent neighborhoods just outside of downtown are fun to visit. Very enjoyable city!

This was our 2nd visit to Chicago, 1st was in 2017, and we knew we wanted to be in the Loop area, as it gives access to a lot of what Chicago has to offer and its close to the river. We had done most of the "Tourist" things on our 1st trip so this was a chance to explore the Downtown/loop area at our pace. We think having the river adds so much to the city and its a great attraction on its own right, but also with its bars/restaurants a good place to head to at almost any time of day. Love the architecture and the neighbourhoods, just a lovely city to stroll around and enjoy, always something to see or do.

Chicago is my second favorite large city to visit, only after Denver, Colorado. The culture food, people and sights are unforgettable. I am a big fan of Sweet Maple Cafe, near UIC, Pequod's Pizza is great, 14 Parish Restaurant & Rhum Bar is a must: Batter and Berries is my second favorite brunch spot, Bell Heir’s BBQ and Bronzeville Winery also receive my strongest recommendations.

The city is modern and clean.

The city is modern and clean. People generally polite and helpful. Many different places to eat although is quieter on the weekends. The museum is awesome. Lots of vibe along the canal and nice parks along the lakefront. Heaps of shopping. Downtown feels safe and easy to walk around. Otherwise lots of buses, a metro and taxis.

First of all location - next to the blue line to O'Hare airport. The hotel is next to the loop too and most of the downtown atractions are in the walking distance. Room was big and beds were really comfortable. They were cleaned daily. The staff was friendly and super helpful- they would share what'd happening in the downtown worth seeing (blues festival). Great value for money. Lots of eating options nearby. I will come back here, if I'm ever again in Chicago.
