Extremely disappointing experience – Unacceptable customer service (post trip)
I stayed at Mendo Bungalow on August 26-27, 2024, and while the initial impression of the room showed some attention to detail (such as thoughtfully arranged accessories) and the reception staff was very friendly and accommodating, our experience quickly took a turn for the worse due to several major issues. The state of the beds, in particular, did not match the otherwise positive first impression.
1. Unclean beds: It was obvious that someone had already slept in both beds. There were long hairs on the pillows, body hairs under the sheets, and visible black stains on the bedding. The sheets were wrinkled in the middle, which clearly indicated prior use. While this was likely an oversight by housekeeping—something that can happen—it absolutely should not. My wife and I were thoroughly disgusted at the thought of sleeping in these beds. Unfortunately, since the reception was already closed when we discovered this, we had no choice but to use the beds as they were. This was extremely unpleasant and certainly not what we expected during our vacation.
2. Mattress misalignment: One of the mattresses was incorrectly placed, with part of it hanging off the edge of the frame, and the bed’s slats were exposed on one side.
3. Ant infestation: The bathroom had ants crawling on the floor, which added to the overall discomfort of our stay.

We loved everything in this hotel! It's so cozy with the fire place and all of the interieur! We stayed in room 206, which was very quiet and had comfortable beds. The people working here are all very helpful and doing a great job! We liked the option to get coffee or tea in the lounge. The idea with the breakfast basket is so cool and a great way to start your day! Around the hotel there are so many things to see like the garden with lots of flowers that attract insects and birds. We loved the chicken and lamas - that was such a highlight for us!

I was very excited to finally be visiting Glass Beach.
I was very excited to finally be visiting Glass Beach. When we arrived I was expecting to see beach areas covered in sea washed glass as photos and past descriptions have alluded to. What I saw was beach areas covered with people and a very small area with sea glass in the sand. I imagine that much of the glass has been hauled off by tourists despite signs asking that the glass not be removed. People were walking away with bags of glass. I was very disappointed.

Awesome place to go and experience.
Awesome place to go and experience. The glass is from an old dump that used to sit there. I only know this from talking to locals, there is no sign of any kind of dump there now, except maybe a large piece or two of bent, rusted steel, and the most beautifully colored, completely smooth pieces of glass, all along the beach. Take the trail to the left, the harder trail. The trail to the right is easy to walk, but you wont see near as much glass to the right. Saw a baby sea lion, (the little cute white ones) on a rock close by at my last visit.

In the world of Air B&Bs, it was nice to stay in a real Bed & Breakfast again. Check in was easy, the room was clean with plenty of sleeping options for the three of us. Breakfast was homemade peach pancakes around the kitchen table. We really felt like house guests which was nice. We walked to a brewery, then a restaurant for dinner, and then to Glass Beach for a magnificent sunset, probably a mile total.
Big, clean and spacious rooms, walking distance to the center of Fort Bragg and glass beach. Very good location for a stop over. One of the staff members (man) was very friendly and helpful (unfortunately i did not catch his name). Good coffee in the morning.
fabulous on sea location, great helpful staff, not too far to walk into town and glass beach in the day. reception gave us great restaurant advice ( and they were great
