A beautiful hotel in the old part of Coimbra by the universities, and close walking distance to the city centre. The spaces are meticulously clean and beautifully decorated, inspired by the literary greats of Portugal. There is a rooftop bar with views of the river, city and the old Law university - great for drinking a glass of wine in the evening and watching the sun set.
Breakfast was fresh, delicious and ample, and the staff kind and welcoming. Should I go to Coimbra again, I would consider returning here as well!
This 5-star hotel is situated in a historic palace. Quinta das Lágrimas offers 3 room types: Palace Rooms once accommodated the Duke of Wellington and Garden Rooms overlook the botanical garden.

The hotel actually is an estate with a rich history and a large area of garden and golf court. It plays a big part of Coimbra's legend. Even not hanging out, you can enjoy staying in the estate by either exploring the tremendous history stories, or walking through the sophistic garden, or playing sports. The public space of both indoor and outdoor are enough enormous. The staff are super friendly and passionate to delight the guests.

This is amazing and when you get there there is nothing...
This is amazing and when you get there there is nothing written about it. No real info. What I did find out is that it was rebuilt after the romans at some point. An interesting walk is further down right on top of the aqueduct. The area is called, "Miradouro do Penedo da Saudade". It's a place where students leave poems, and remembrances to both the university and the city. It's on top of the aqueduct but nobody talks about that. The view of the river and Santa Clara is pretty spectacular.
