It’s actually not a hostel but one big dorm in a really nice hotel. It was comfy, spacious and clean. Every bed has its own curtain and outside of the dorm were two toilets and two showers. I loved the breakfast buffet which was shared with the hotel guests.
The location is good and safe. Around 10-15min walking to Plaza de Armas.
Comfortable hotel close to the Plaza de Armas! The terrace upstairs is great with a beautiful view of the volcanos—they serve a good breakfast there in the mornings. They very kindly let us stay in our room after check out because they had some flexibility with their next guests arriving late, which was so nice of them. I would definitely recommend staying here while in Arequipa!
I stayed in four different hotels while in Arequipa. Others perhaps had better views, right over the Plaza de Armas, and were more expensive. But I thought Casa del Melgar had the most charm!
Beautiful hotel, with a stunning courtyard which is super pleasant to relax in after a day of exploring Arequipa. Two blocks away from the plaza de armas, perfectly located yet not noisy or crowded (as soon as you enter the gate it’s like a you step into a little tranquil paradise). Breakfast was simple yet complete. Loved our stay here!
Rooms are very comfortable and very clean, great for relaxing after a long day The location is perfect for a downtown walk, minutes away from Plaza de Armas and other tourist attractions. the hotel itself is quite nice, mixing the old traditional architecture of Arequipa with a modern hotel. Superb location of Plaza de Armas in Arequipa. Convenience stores with empanadas, bakery and basic food just at the entrance to the hotel. Great and helpful staff at reception, cleaning people and in the restaurant on the rooftop. This restaurant, serving breakfasts and dinners directly overlooking Plaza de Armas was the main reason why we have chosen Katari Hotel and the views were really stunning.
our stay at La Plaza Arequipa was incredible. the staff was super accommodating to our needs and so very nice. the location is superb, you’re close to everything: shops, taxis, restaurants etc. the hotel itself was beautiful and spotless. Highlight for me was being able to enjoy breakfast from the balcony that overlooked La Plaza de Armas. Looking forward to our next trip to Arequipa where we will definitely be back! Thank you again to the staff, you are incredible!
We’ve stayed at this hotel each time we travel to Arequipa because they treat us like houseguests. The staff goes above and beyond to make our stay as uneventful as possible. The location is close to the Plaza de Armas and many excellent restaurants I highly recommend this hotel.
Verry good location, 100m from Plaza de Armas se Arequipa. Nice, clean rooms. Very friendly staff. We arrived realy early and we could even go to our room already in the morning.
We couldn’t use the breakfast because our tour started so early in the morning, so we received a really goood lunch box from a Hotel.
All in all really good hotel that i would definatelly recommend.
Very close to Plaza de Armas and many restaurants and shops. Old stonework in the lobby and main arreas was gorgeous, though rooms are updated to accommodate modern amenities. Staff were polite and there were elevators—a rarity in Peruvian hotels for sure.
