We were only there for 2 nights and one day, as a stopover en route back to Cape Town. There's not much to do in Windhoek, apart from Joe's (which was really why we were there!) but it is a pleasant and clean town to have a drive around. Not sure about public transport.

From where we stayed the Maerua Mall offers mostly all that is needed with even some other convenient stores close by. It seems that there is enough restaurants but we enjoyed the famous Joe's Beerhouse

I went for a 5 day conference and regretted leaving early.

I went for a 5 day conference and regretted leaving early. I've been to many African cities, but Windhoek is very different, not only in climate, but also cityscape. There is a proliferation of security fences round every nice home, but I didn't encounter or hear of any crime (at least in the very pleasant area where i was staying). I also walked the 4 km to the conference venue, morning and evening, without encountering any trouble.

Do not waste your time visiting Joe's Beer House.

Do not waste your time visiting Joe's Beer House. Average Food, badly prepared & badly presented. The Weinberg Hotel & the Windhoek Luxury suites are both lovely, well worth visiting & staying at. The restaurants at the hotel are good. We had great meals & coffee at both We enjoyed visiting the Curio centre and the Cafe upstairs was excellent.

It’s a small “City”, more like a big town.

It’s a small “City”, more like a big town. I didn’t manage to explore many museums (don’t think there are many) . I took a jog around the city with specific things I wanted to see including the Kudu statue and the church in the middle of the traffic circle. I was there for a mining conference but I would say if you are flying into Windhoek then one day is enough to stay and explore a bit. The adventure and wildness of Namibia should not be wasted by spending excessive time in Windhoek itself but is good for a day and night to catch up after a long flight

The hotel is located on the outskirts of Windhoek and has amazing views. The staff were very friendly and the food was of a very high standard. The hotel was good value for money and had two lovely pools. It is great for younger or more mobile guests and the staff did assist us by changing one room, which was just too far away from the main building, which was a great help. The laundry service was the best value for money of all the hotels we stayed in.

Firstly the staff are so friendly and helpful, we had a wonderful greeting on our arrival. The rooms are spacious and well provided. Everything was clean and tidy. Towels, soaps etc. all there. Breakfast (included in the price - up to the value of N$150 per person, you pay for any extra) is delicious. There may be other hotels in Windhoek, but the Tenbergen is just about perfect.

Kind of what you expect from a large city centre hotel. Well managed and accessible. We stayed here for one night before our flight. The rooftop bar and pool are great! Would recommend for staying in Windhoek.
