We were only there for 2 nights and one day, as a stopover en route back to Cape Town. There's not much to do in Windhoek, apart from Joe's (which was really why we were there!) but it is a pleasant and clean town to have a drive around. Not sure about public transport.

It seems that there is enough restaurants but we enjoyed the famous Joe's Beerhouse

I went for a 5 day conference and regretted leaving early. I've been to many African cities, but Windhoek is very different, not only in climate, but also cityscape. There is a proliferation of security fences round every nice home, but I didn't encounter or hear of any crime (at least in the very pleasant area where i was staying). I also walked the 4 km to the conference venue, morning and evening, without encountering any trouble.

It’s a small “City”, more like a big town.
It’s a small “City”, more like a big town. I didn’t manage to explore many museums (don’t think there are many) . I took a jog around the city with specific things I wanted to see including the Kudu statue and the church in the middle of the traffic circle. I was there for a mining conference but I would say if you are flying into Windhoek then one day is enough to stay and explore a bit. The adventure and wildness of Namibia should not be wasted by spending excessive time in Windhoek itself but is good for a day and night to catch up after a long flight

My stay at Hotel Uhland was just perfect. I particularly appreciated the kind, competent and extremely helpful staff. The location is great, near the city centre, with greenery, a fresh breez, and a nice terrasse for breakfast or other meals. My room had everything I needed. And the food prepared at Hotel Uhland was also nice and fresh. I will definitely choose Hotel Uhland again for future stays in Windhoek.
Location. Layout, bedroom on mezzanine level, but not suitable for disabled travellers … but this group also has studios which I understand are in just one level. Easy parking once you figure out how to get in … instructions for where and how to park are poor - it needs initiative or you’ll get lost. Handy for Independence Ave, the Main Street in Windhoek. Right next door to the Hilton hotel
Big modern hotel near the biggest shopping mall in Namibia (The Grove Mall, Windhoek city). Easy for find and from hotel can walk to shopping mall very easy and fast (3-5 min direct road). Room have comfortable bed and modern bathroom. Have elevator. In morning you can order breakfast from hotel in small restaurant near lobby (for additional fee).
What a lovely little gem of a hotel in Windhoek. The room and bathroom is spacious and feels very luxurious with an enormous comfortable bed. The breakfast at the café next door was absolutely lovely. Will definitely book again!
