The Royal Palace of Kandy hasn’t housed monarchy since the 1800s but its intricate interior still has plenty of regal charm. Within the grounds lies the famed Temple of the Tooth, harking back to times when whoever possessed the holy relic (Buddha’s canine) had the right to rule. Tickets for the temple also include palace entry, so there’s no better excuse to pay a visit.
