It was an exceptional experience being the first time in Lamu. It's very unadulterated and I trust this stays that way. When Carol told me someone would meet us I was very happy 😊 the shocker that turned into this amazing experience was realizing that our vehicle to the hotel would be a boat 🛥️. When I realized that was the way life was there and no exclusivity in terms of the hotel being set apart my partner and I absolutely loved it. We loved walking up and down the stairs to and from our room, great exercise 😂. The staff were awesome Carol, Festus and team were extremely helpful and awesome. It was more family than staff and client relationship. When you book and go there ask for Mzee Ziwa his tours of the town and even having to convince me to go for an over an hour boat ride to some village was a great addition to the Jannat experience Looking forward to another stay in the near future.

Fantastic stay at Royal House, primarily thanks to the excellent service and friendliness of Baya and Omar who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The location is great - both very central in Shela (1 min to the beach) and very quiet. The hotel is clean and comfortable, though shows some signs of wear and tear. We hope the new owners will continue to ensure its upkeep. Highly recommend.

The place is incredibly peaceful. I especially liked the design and interior. The whole team is amazing! Very friendly, attentive and always willing to help and make your stay memorable. The whole area is spot on clean. We had the most wonderful stay! I highly recommend Lamu house to everyone who is looking for a calm and relaxed place combining luxury and laid back atmosphere. We had an excellent stay at Msafini. The staff were wonderful and the facilities (for the price) were really great. Also super location that is in walking distance of everything and lovely food.

I booked the room with a balcony - it was worth the extra as it was at the top and lovely and breezy. The balcony has a hammock and outdoor shower as well. The breakfast was HUGE and sensational. The communal area was also beautiful with great views and a great space to meet other guests, so a great place to stay if you’re travelling on your own. Every detail was taken care of - the bed was comfy, lovely products in the bathroom, the staff carried my luggage from the port and nothing was too much of a bother. I will definitely come back - highly recommend !

My stay at Shiban house was fantastic. The hotel is situated in one of Shela’s winding backstreets. This makes its location convenient, being a mere five minute’s walk from Shela’s harbour, and very quiet, ideal for a good night’s sleep. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff members Joseph and Saada were exceptionally polite and welcoming. A highlight was the breakfast (they catered very well for gluten free), which was delicious and abundant ! I look forward to returning
