The hotel was welcoming and staff were very supportive when we needed anything. The room was a nice size, very clean and close to transit for day excursions. The neighbourhood was safe and quiet, and within walking distance to shopping districts and restaurants.
Hotel Okura's elegant rooms boast spectacular views of Kyoto against the backdrop of the Higashiyama Mountains.

Really welcoming, helpfull and friendly staff. Excellent service. Even though it is not the newest of hotels, it is very good maintained and clean, fresh room. Lovely view over the river and towards the old town and mountains beyond. Placed in a nice area and a good starting point for walking explorers.

The location of the hotel is awesome because you can walk to restaurants and shopping mall. While you can expect noise in the city, there was loud music coming from an adjacent club on a Saturday night. Breakfast was excellent as you have lots of choices. The restaurant provides nice views of the street. This property as well has to bar service at night as the restaurant is only open for breakfast. Then only for dinner on Saturdays. However, plenty of restaurants around this location. The room was a good size even with a king size bed. The tv cannot access Netflix or You Tube. BBC as the only English Channel. Staff was professional and accommodating.

I loved it!
I loved it! Please get yourself to where the "Keage" subway station street entrance is. It is a 19th century brick structure. It took me a while to find the beginning of this walk--from Nanzen-Ji Temple > Kotoku-an > Nanzen-Ji Oku-no-in >Eikan-Do >Path of Philosophy >Honen-in then Ginkaku-Ji. This was a highlight of my month in Japan.

Going during the Sakura bloom is the best way to enjoy this...
Going during the Sakura bloom is the best way to enjoy this place. It can be packed of people, but the walk is long so you'll be able to enjoy it. You can see Koi fish in the river and there are some small local shops you should visit to get some food and/or souvenirs.
