Pleasantly surprised. I was worried this place might be a bit sketchy based on the pictures, but it's actually quite clean. My room was conveniently located right in front of the washers and dryers--which are a luxury in Japan--so I took advantage of that. The room is small but clean and adequately comfortable for solo travelers.

Very large, Japanese style rooms. Had a nice communcal bathing area. Proprietor was very nice and helped me book my next stay in Japanese. She also let me borrow a bike to go see the nearby sites. Close to train station.
Both the hosts are very nice and they are really helpful to suggest things to see and to do in Hiraizumi. Wonderful experience in the onsen and at the restaurant. The breakfast was superb. The room is very spacious with TV, wifi, fridge, kettle for tea and coffee. Ask to Mr Suzuki to turn the heater on because it is very cold in winter time. The Minpaku is only 10 minutes on foot from the train station, 3 minutes to Motsuji temple and 20 minutes an foot from Chousun temple. Takkoku no Iwaya is 5 km far away, so you need a bike to reach it.
The best stay we had in Japan - the hosts are the nicest, really making this stay unforgettable. Breakfast was delicious. The room was super nice and spacious, and it's very close to the Motsuji temple. Thank you very much for everything!
The place is only a few minutes walk from Hiraizumi station and Motsuji temple. The owners are a very sweet elderly couple. They are very helpful and they can communicate in English well. Our stay with them was wonderful. The breakfast was in Japanese style and scrumptious. We will stay with them again if we go to Hiraizumi.
