The staff were so friendly! I read a few comments about staff not speaking english but honestly what do you expect - you’re in Japan where they speak Japanese and on a very small island. You need to have Google translate. I found them super helpful for organising activities during the day and massages, as well as airport transport. The room views were also incredible and room was super nice with all amenities. It was also a very big room! Food also was amazing flavours. Saw some comments about limited breakfast choices but they had lots of Japanese breakfast options with some western too. Again you’re on a small remote island and can’t be expecting too much here.

Very conveniently located for hiking as it is close to the entry point for the Jomon Sugi trailhead, which hike requires a very early start. I had a car and going from the hotel to the Yakusigi museum at 4:45am took me 8 minutes. The staff are extremely kind and willing to assist with queries, the parking is very spacious and the indoor onsen was enjoyable (there are also massage chairs in the public bath area and free to use) and a good way to relax after a long and wet day of hiking.

Great guesthouse close to Miyanoura ferry terminal. The host was very accommodating and helpful with my requests and the place was clean, cosy, quiet and comfortable. AC was great in mid summer! A good place as a base for activities on the north of the island.
