The residence is located in a strategic position for visiting the Gran Sasso National Park. Santo Stefano di Sessanio, one of the best-preserved medieval towns, is just a 5-minute walk away, while the highly regarded tourist attraction of the Castle of Rocca Calascio is easily reachable via a trail.
The residence is housed in a 17th-century building, which is a plus. The staff is extremely kind and accommodated all our requests. The restaurant is excellent, the best we tried in the the region.
Set in the small village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, La Casa Sù Le Dimore Del Borgo is inside Abruzzo's Gran Sasso National Park.

The room and the cleanliness are realy exceptional. The owner is very friendly and very helpful nice person. Everything was just great. The heating is perfect in the room and so in the bathroom. The breakfast a bit poor, just sweeties and yogurt, both I dont eat. But, actualy, the room was so great, beatifully designed, comfortable and clean, that everithing else just does not realy matter. The village is charming! Very recommended!

Residenza La Torre is an Albergo Diffuso and, as such, our superior one-bedroom apartment was essentially a small house; no complaints there. This was our third stay in Santo Stefano and was the best yet; it lacked nothing in comparison to the Albergo Diffuso Sextantio (where we had previously stayed) and was a good deal cheaper, so definitely cost-effective. The kitchen was stocked and replenished with a good selection of breakfast foods (bread, fruit, cheese, prosciutto, pastries and more) and also had a Nespresso machine with milk frother and, crucially, a moka pot with good ground coffee.
The office/reception is a few streets away in the centre of the village, but it’s a very small village and so was no problem. And when we did have a problem; our door key snapped off in the lock; I just called on Whatsapp and the guy on duty came right over with a spare key and was able to remove the stub of the old one.
The first time we stayed in Santo Stefano was 2013 and it’s definitely busier than back then, but that’s a good thing being that the whole point of the Albergo Diffuso was to bring life back to an abandoned village. And it’s all relative; staying here for a few days still feels like stepping back in time to a pace and quality of life that’s a joy to experience surrounded by the beauty of this green heart of Italy.
