Facing onto the Grand Canal, the House of Gold got its name from the gold paint which formerly adorned its exterior. What the Ca’ d’Oro now lacks in elegance, it makes up for in historic beauty, with a fabulous 15th-century Gothic facade and a mosaic-covered courtyard. The museum within houses a collection of Venetian and Tuscan paintings, sculpture, and ceramics.
