Excellent location close to restaurants and shops and downtown . Lovely park around the corner . Our family room was spacious with two separate areas one with double bed and the sofa bed in the living room area. There was a kitchen area with coffee machine and small hob and fridge. A microwave might be a good idea. Bathroom was perfect with walk in shower good pressure and heat for four showers. Didn't use the restaurant/bar. Good plugs for charging phones and good wifi connection. Heating was great.
Newly renovated during the spring of 2023, Hotel Local 101 is an independent hotel quietly tucked away in the heart of downtown Reykjavik, on a charming street made up of classical Icelandic homes.

Hotel Local 101 was the perfect choice for a night in Reykjavik. The location is very convenient, just a short walk from the city center. The building has a charming old-style exterior with a fully renovated, modern interior. The room upgrade was a pleasant surprise, and everything was stylish, clean and new. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was enjoyable. Overall, we had a great stay. Excellent price-quality ratio—highly recommended!

The location was right at the centre. Loads off pubs, cafes, restaurants, and stores around.
The room was clean and comfy, although I did question some structural design choices, like the wardrobe being in the toilet.
All around, it was a comfortable and fun stay.

Ascend the church's tower when the sky is clear to get an awesome view of the city. Also, do a video and time it with the church bells ringing! You will pay to ascend the tower at the gift shop on the ground floor.

Give yourself a lot of time to be inside this awesome church. It has the verticality of Gothic churches, yet is simple and bright. I can sit inside the church for an hour and let the shape and air surround me. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you might hear the mighty organ.

Keep in mind as you approach this building.
Keep in mind as you approach this building. Who thought to design a church in this style? Is there anywhere else on the planet with one similar? A brilliantly simple but powerful piece of architecture.
Also visit the sculpture gardens next door.

go early in the day to go up in the lift to the lookout area as it is very popular as the only really 'high' place to get a view across the city etc If there is a funeral or wedding or service, it is out of bounds for tourists, so allow time in case you need to go back (which happened to me - a funeral in process).
