You enter the hotel under a rich perfume of jasmine flowers. The owner greeted us as soon as we arrived, immediately giving us a sense of home. The space kept its historical charm while providing all the comforts of modernity and the Palestinian- embroidered pieces added the most beautiful color and culture to every space we walked into.

Goes right into the Muslim quarter.
Goes right into the Muslim quarter. But to the right is a little sliver of the Christian quarter, with a tiny little bar/restaurant. You can sit there a drink a beer in a paper cup and watch everyone head to prayer.

There are a couple of thieving Lebanese brothers right at the gate. I read the problems others had with downloads on their credit cards but forgot and had my backpack "dipped" for US$1500 in Shekels.
Put a downer on my trip. Hotel was a total scam, dirty, run by a speaker on a wall, never see the staff. Wandering thieves at night trying doorhandles. Had to buy a torch to use the keypad on cheap box with key for the execrable dirty room. I will never return to Jerusalem. Tel Aviv not much better. The taxi drivers keep saying how "friendly" everyone is. Oh Yeah? Cheers! I know you have to go because of bible interest etc., but don't expect "Nirvana". The best part of Jerusalem was the 'wandering cats', (felines!), in the City on Shabbat.

Buying Souveniers is one of the main reasons to visit the old city but beware of overpriced items, bargain!. There are lot of chances for getting ripped off. Before purchasing, if you have time, try and look around for nominal shops. You can buy accessories from malls or other shops too, in the old city there are only few shops that sell at reasonable prices try and find them. Bethlehem is also a good place to buy souveniers.

People are talking about Damascus Gate! Explore guest hotel reviews featuring "Damascus Gate"
1. The hotel is exactly in the middle of one important point in the city Damascus Gate, but is not noise at all.
2. From the top of the hotel you have a restaurant/Café with one of the best view 360 of the city.
3. The room was clean
4. The whole place is traditionally decorated
5.Hotel is conservative (no unmarried couples allowed) - personal preference
location is excellent, quiet place near Damascus Gate. breakfast was good. I left an item behind at the hotel and staff were super helpful to help me recover it, thanks!
Second time in this hotel. My family came again because the first time was excellent. This time it was the same.
The staff was very nice and helpfull, the rooms' quality was very good, we were less than five minutes from Damascus Gate.
Conclusion: when I come again to Jerusalem I will not look for another hotel.
An amazing hotel. Extremely kind people. An entire family dedicated to your well-being. Just located 200 meters away from the Damascus gate of the bursting Jerusalem, this hotel is calm. We do recommend the restaurent as well. We simply had, with great pleasure, our 4 diners onsite. Last but not least, the value for money was outstanding. This will be our hotel at the occasion of any trip to Israel! A big BRAVO and MERCI to the Staff & Management :-))
Proximity to Old Town is key advantage. Tram stop "Damascus Gate" and sherut/bus terminal are both some 5min walk away. Compared with most other hotels in East Jerusalem, prices here are "moderate".
For the money, you can't do much better than Victoria Hotel in Jerusalem. Basic but comfortable rooms, most with balcony; a great breakfast; friendly front desk staff; and an excellent location less than 5 min. walk from Damascus Gate and the taxi/bus terminals. Not a place to spend the day luxuriating, but as a comfortable and clean base of operations for a tour in the Holy City, it's perfect.
