As a historian, I was disappointed in this museum.

As a historian, I was disappointed in this museum. It is clearly a well funded museum and has loads of interactive elements to the exhibit, but it lacked proper historical context and interpretation. It simply reinforced the same story most visitors will already know about Irish Emigration to North America, without really explaining the hardships they faced and how these hardships might relate to racial understandings of whiteness in the 20th century. It could have done a little more heavy lifting to challenge and educate guests, rather than just entertain them.

A fantastic place to learn about how and why Irish people...

A fantastic place to learn about how and why Irish people left. It is a great place to hire a geneologist to learn about your Irish roots. It is close to other important places of learning. A must visit place that also has washrooms, storage facilities for luggage, and food.

    A must see in Dublin.

A must see in Dublin. It took us 1.5 hours to walk through this Museum and gather our 'passport' stamps. What a great idea. We loved the interactive exhibits. Certainly a fantastic exploration of the history of Irish Emigration. As a descendant of Irish immigrants who travelled to Australia, I found this very moving and relevant to my search for my own history.
