Acropolis Museum
Athens is a city steeped in history, shaped by the many people and empires that have called it home. This relationship to the past can be seen and felt throughout the city, but the scale and beauty of Greek antiquity is best appreciated at the Acropolis Museum. Standing next to the Parthenon itself, the Museum's exhibits span thousands of years and document the stories of the people of Athens through war, religion and daily life. From beautiful marbles to stunning statues, there's no better way to feel the presence of the past.

I suggest a visit to the Acropolis Museum before visiting...
I suggest a visit to the Acropolis Museum before visiting the Acropolis. Seeing the sculpture/artwork at eye level gives you a better sense of what was once there to inform your understanding of the structures on the Acropolis. The museum construction above archaeological structures is spectacular, with clear floors and walkways that allow you to see what is below and remind you that the Acropolis was surrounded by dense habitation. Although the exhibits are beautiful, Interpretation of the objects, the underlying structures and the Acropolis is sparse and/or inconsistent. I would have expected to learn more about where the objects were manufactured, by whom, who was living/working in the ruins below the musuem.
The museum has a pleasant cafe with spectacular views of the Acropolis from below. It also has a large quiet reading room that offered a much needed respite from the crowds, heat and sensory overload of Athens in July!

The museum is not to be missed!
The museum is not to be missed! Beautifully designed and so many artifacts to be in awe. Visit at an earlier hour to beat the crowds, don't forget to visit the excavation site of dwellings from the 4th/5th century located below the museum. There are no signs that this area is open for a walk through. When we visited, it seemed as if it was not open to the public, but luckily our curiosity took over and we decided to walk down for a quick look. To our surprise, it was indeed open and we were able to use our museum tickets to enter the archaeological site.

buy your ticket on line before you go.
buy your ticket on line before you go. I spent at least 45 min in the first entry room alone! incredible museum! just jaw dropping. It is a relatively new structure and houses it's collection beautifully. I went at the opening time and it was packed by the time I left. Consider that.

Don’t skip this.
Don’t skip this. It’s essential to understanding the stuff you see at the top of the Acropolis. Get a tour that includes both the Acropolis and the museum. You’ll save time by visiting just the essentials and not waste time, and avoid crowds and get the best stories.

Must-see attraction.
Must-see attraction. You can purchase entrance fee to Acropolis and Museum in advance. Museum built over ancient ruins. Glass floors to view the ancient ruins and artifacts. Our tour included the museum but you can explore on your own at your leisure. Several food cafes inside the museum for you to take a break.

Amazing location and apartment perfect for exploring Athens. Was only a 2 minute walk to the acropolis museum and south entrance which was handy. Metro station also near by which we took from the ferry terminal and to the airport. Overall great apartment which I would definitely stay in again. Clean, spacious, and comfortable. The hosts were also super responsive to any questions we had.
It's a very nice and cozy apartment, just a few minutes from several restaurants, bars, the Acropolis museum and the Acropolis. Communication with property was easy. I felt really good staying there, very comfortable.
The apartment was a great choice for us. It was right across the street from the new Acropolis Museum and easy walking distance to the Acropolis and other sites, The host responded to us quickly when we asked about nearby grocery stores, restaurant suggestions which were just around the corner from the apartment and suggested a beach for us to go to. We were very pleased with the apartment and all the help from the host.
The Best Acropolis Museum Apartment was very clean, convenient to Acropolis, cafes, restaurants, buses & sights within easy walking distance. We appreciated that the kitchen had drip coffee maker, coffee, espresso machine, ALL basic food essentials (and more!) to get one started before hitting the store/restaurants, washer, drying rack etc. The air con worked great for a warm September & internet was more than sufficient.
Would definitely stay again.
Everything... Ephiphania the receptionist was very kind and helpful. Delivered 5 star service all staffs were attentive and prompt. Room was super clean and has a very nice shower with amenties and slippers. Tons of restaurants nearby and acropolis museum is 3 min by walking and acropolis. Very good hotel with amazing staff and room.
Location was excellent, 2 mins from acropolis museum, acropolis metro station, excellent food, shops, etc. Spacious and comfortable apartment. Washer dryer available! Very helpful. Cooking implements available, washing liquid available.
Perfect accommodation for exploring Athens in our favorite neighborhood Koukaki. Very close to the acropolis and acropolis museum on a beautiful quiet street. Plaka neighborhood is also walking distance and close to some of the best restaurants in Athens. The apartment was very clean, modern, comfortable with an amazing balcony. The staff were so lovely, helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed chatting with the staff and hope to be back soon.
The apartment owner is incredibly nice and completely customer focused. He even gave us a brief history lesson when showing us in. The apartment was well stocked with cooking basics, cold drinks and coffee. The location is 3 minutes away from the Acropolis metro stop and even closer to lots of stores and restaurants. And the crowning jewel is the wrap-around balcony with incredible views of the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum.
