Leicester Cathedral

A Roman temple turned imposing Norman cathedral, this Leicester landmark counts an art installation amongst its soaring arches and rich décor. The cathedral is known for being the resting place of Richard III, whose remains were uncovered in 2015 in a nearby carpark and later laid officially to rest in his tomb.

A small cathedral - don't expect anything grand, but perfectly lovely. The grey friars carpark that king Richard was found in is a short walk away but not necessarily sign posted. It's simply just a council carpark. There is a plaque on the bridge over the river Soar nearby stating that it was believed his remains were thrown over there.

It felt luxurious on arrival with a tea tray ready with coffee pods, fresh tea bags and shortbread biscuits. We over looked Leicester Cathedral and apart from being on a side road it was quite enough, apart from when people were walking past at 3am!
