There was a market there the day we were there - lots of very different vendors - food, ceramics, wood carvings. We bought several items and had lunch at a restaurant nearby. Also went to Grayfriars churchyard, where Greayfrairs Bobby is buried.

Our room was on the fourth floor, with a castle view. It was spectacular. We awoke each morning with smiles. The staff were great. We had cocktails in the lounge, and breakfast was very good. The location could not have been better. Walking distance to the Royal Mile, Princess St, Edinburgh Castle, and across the street from many pubs, and other great restaurant's. (tip: make sure you tell your taxi driver it's the Apex Grassmarket Hotel, because there is also a Grassmarket hotel.) Choose the Apex.
Great location! It is within walking distance of Edinburgh Castle, many shops and restaurants, and many public transportation options. The decor is beautiful. And it is right next door to Biddy Mulligans. If you stay here, please try their eggs Benedict! Fabulous.

Beautiful, fresh and modern apartment. Great view to Edinburgh castle. Great location in the city centre. Walking distance to everything important - Old town, Edinburgh castle, Victoria street, grassmarket 10 - 15 min. away. Princes street, George street, Rose street are right outside the door. No disturbings of sounds outside from the nightlife. Wonderful city.
The apartment is located in a good area and close to Grassmarket. Grocery around the corner. Hop on hop off about a block away. Washer came in handy. The staff was great in giving instructions to the apartment.
Motel One was so much fun! It is now my preferred hotel in Edinburgh. I paid extra for a city view, worth it! Location close to tour bus stations, Waverley Station, Royal Mile, Grassmarket, Apple computer store on the ground floor of the hotel (upgrade your computer knowledge with an Apple specialist!) Hot breakfast, fast WiFi, European and UK outlets, proper vibes in common spaces as well.
The location was great...just a half block from Grassmarket and easy walking distance to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Close to restaurants and pubs, if that's what you are looking for. It was a clean and well stocked one bedroom unit on the ground floor. Plenty of storage space for luggage and clothes. Host responded quickly to questions. Having free access to Netflix was an added bonus. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to Edinburgh.
The location is just below Edinburgh castle -4 min downstairs from it on Grassmarket. Unmatched location! We arrived very late on Sunday due to car rental troubles but had a starter pack of delicious cookies, butter, jams , coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the kitchen. This helped immensely as the kids were starving by then. Well appointed w full kitchen. Even w in apartment washer.
Good location in a quieter part of Edinburgh but lots of restaurants and pubs in the neighborhood. Easy walk to Grassmarket area. Really cute room with view of back garden.
I can't say enough good things about this place. It is very clean, has all the amenities you would need, and is very close to the Castle, Victoria street and all the attractions. Although it's located at Grassmarket, it was not noisy at all. A very cute apartment! You won't regret staying there. The host was very helpful and responsive as well.
