Location was perfect! This hotel was amazing, such history. Beautiful, rooms and public areas that are warm and inviting. Food was excellent, and the Staff were all warm, engaging, and accommodating.

If your in or around Gillygate then I can recommend Mamma Mia Italian restaurant. We ate there on Wednesday night and had a wonderful meal. It doesn't look very big from the front but opens up as you walk through.
We had a great three course meal.
Appearance and amenities were a described. It was convenient to the old town, but also secluded and quiet. Bed was super comfortable. The apartment was very clean. Water was hot. Kitchen was adequately appointed. We liked the secluded rear entrance that gave out on to Gillygate. We didnt have a car, but the place would be a blessing for someone with a car as there was ample parking.
We really enjoyed staying at the Gillygate. The bed was comfortable and the shower great. The location cannot be beat. The owner Mark was fantastic. He helped me park our car out back. A small tight area to park. He provided great places to go to in York. Loved each one. Thank you Mark for your hospitality.
The location was excellent. We were close to everything, but what made the experience stand out was how helpful and friendly the owner was. He went out of his way to make our stay so rememberable, and nothing was too much trouble. We absolutely recommend the Gillygate Guest House, and we will stay there the next time we are in York. Fabulous city as well, easily our most enjoyable from the entire epic trip we had...
