We had booked five rooms for one night at the Balmoral and had a delightful (but not extremely excellent) High Tea upon arrival in the pretty Palm Court. For dinner we choose the Brasserie and not the 7 course menu restaurant which nobody can take after two hours of a full Champagne High Tea. The quality of the food at the Brasserie was mediocre but what really put us off that we paid almost 1.000 British Pounds per room and the rooms were very small and not at all in the pleasant decor for that room category as on the booking site photographs. All rooms were basically small, not elegantly furnished and some rooms had a small window which one could only open for a little gap for fresh air, overlooking the dilapidated back facade of this Grand Hotel, undoubtedly the best and most historic hotel of Edinburgh. I have said at may Rocco Forte hotels but have to admit this one was a bit of a disappointment despite the very friendly and helpful staff. We called our rooms the chauffeur´s room and made a joke out of it and it was irrelevant for one night, but a disappointment.

excellent performance with good music, marching and lighting...
excellent performance with good music, marching and lighting, also the fireworks with the castle as a historical background.
marching bands are well trained with sharp uniform n gear.
Marching skills and formation literacy are stunning when you looking with a bit knowledge of foot March, marching band.
not only the amazing Scottish blow pipes but also Swiss and Latino style marching bands, perfect arm drill, Scottish dance n songs.
one and half hour around with hundreds of performers, and back stage first aid supportive staff... the ticket price worth every penny although it's not a low price to me. I don't have a second of regret but wanna to watch again next time.
I truly believe it show the military culture as well as the good organization within n neglected. without a doubt that tell the world the Scottish n UK culture at the lovely Edinburgh.
2 reminders, temperature is cold even at a good day of summer. I do wear thick cloth n beanie for this open area show without strong wind. and still feel a bit cold after the show. also you have to walk back to you hotel or what under such temperature. please have a good preparation with water proof clothing.
2ndly, I prefer drink less before such a good show. full of audience and good performance u never want to miss a second.

Loved it. Bucket list event. Didn’t disappoint. We booked early online from Australia. The process is easy. Communication is good. The app works well. There were lots of people but the crowds are well handled. The show was sharp and kept moving along.

If you have the opportunity to get tickets, just do it.
If you have the opportunity to get tickets, just do it. It's cancelled for 2021 for obvious reasons, so 2022 is the next opportunity. If you can stretch your budget, get tickets for the end of the esplanade facing the castle, but any seat is better than missing the spectacle. Great fireworks at the end of a stirring evening. Check weather forecasts and come prepared for rain with a light poncho you can whip out if needed.
