For myself, the only native-English speaker in a party of Mandarin-speakers, I would say that the highlight of my visit was finding out that Alice, the person on Reception, was able to speak the same language as not only me, a native English-speaker, but also that of the friends and family of the people my partner, a Mandarin and Taiwanese Chinese-speaker, and I, had travelled to Newcastle to meet.
This welcome in Mandarin made all of my party feel particularly comfortable staying in the hotel, knowing that if there were to be any issues, there was someone available who could fully understand their concerns.
Alice's understanding of their shared language was at a level I've never seen before. My Chinese partner confirmed to me that Alice's accent and comprehension were excellent. As a hotel, you are lucky to have someone with these skills.
At breakfast, which was excellent (even to the point of the waitress and chef telling us that they would only provide fried eggs within two or three minutes notice in order to make sure they were fresh), we were given a table pushed together by the waitress to allow us all to sit together, and we were free to choose what we wanted from the buffet - either full English and hot, or cold continental if wanted. Certainly a very good breakfast, and no need for lunch afterwards.
All in all, a great place to stay, and I'll just leave it at that.
