Chester Zoo vies (with Whipsnade) as the UK's best zoo.
Chester Zoo vies (with Whipsnade) as the UK's best zoo. This is a stunning, world class zoo with a broad and mainly breeding collection, supporting associated conservation projects globally. I would like more detailed information available online about habitats/animals but on the ground, a day-long visit leaves you wanting even more. Enjoy! Then come again.....

Can spend the whole day here and still not manage to see everything, absolutely love this place! Would suggest to bring your own lunch though, can be crowded at the on-site food places and it's not cheap!

Plan your trip ahead so you don't miss out on the animal feeding times. Download the phone app before you leave. Fabulous day out, but you need comfortable shoes as there is lots of walking. We took a packed lunch and drinks as the prices would have made the day trip very expensive.

Get there early or late to beat the crowds.
Get there early or late to beat the crowds. Currently there is a lot of queuing to get in to see anything, but we didn't get to see any of the big cats. Very poor distancing in all open areas and in the queues. (Poor)

Fantastic "Zoo".
Fantastic "Zoo". The animals all looked so well cared for and were in great habitats.
We walked around Zoo for about 5 hours to ensure we saw all the animals, so need to wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

Great value for money. Paid 98 quid for a night with the wife and child while visiting Chester zoo.
Breakfast included which was pretty good to be fair.
The pool and gym facilitys were also very good for the money.
Only criticism is that the hotel could do with a bit of a facelift, the rooms are a bit dated.
Otherwise great stay and value.
The house was easy to find, very quiet, clean and with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The location is great, with a bus stop very close by which takes you into Chester centre at a very reasonable cost, and Chester Zoo is just over 5 minutes drive away.
The location was perfect to explore Chester and Chester Zoo! The room was cozy and perfect for a get-away. The swimming and gym facilities were lovely.
We were made very welcome by the owner and she gave lots of advice about local amenities, which we found very helpful. Room was very clean and breakfast was exceptional, catering for a wide range of preferences. Landlady was extremely friendly, and our young grandson loved listening to her talking about the history of the local area and Chester zoo.
We initially chose the hotel due to it's location as it was convenient for both Chester zoo and the town centre. The staff were great and made us feel very welcome in both the hotel and spa. Our room, just off the main entrance, was spacious and the very large bed was extremely comfortable so we both had a great night's sleep. There was a good selection at breakfast and dinner in the restautant was good, if a little pricey for the options available. Overall, good value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
