Calton Hill

Calton Hill is home to a clutch of eclectic Edinburgh monuments. Originally set aside as an open area for the townsfolk to practise sport and tournaments, it’s now a stunning city park with both sweeping vistas and historical clout. Head to the Nelson Monument and the Dugald Stewart Monument to gaze on some iconic Scottish architecture.

Simple hotel in a good location on the park. The man checking us in was very friendly, the room was clean. We'd asked for a quiet room with a view and could see Calton Hill from our window. All in all, just fine.

The Ibis Styles is perfectly located in New Town on the edge of St Andrew's Square. I strongly recommend the Works Package as our balcony room on the 6th floor commanded views of Calton Hill and across Old Town all the way to Edinburgh Castle. The room was comfortable and well-appointed, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We had dinner and breakfast on two occasions and found the food delicious.
