We stayed here to celebrate the start of the year countdown to our wedding at Eden Barn. This lovely hotel has been renovated beautifully. We had dinner and the steak and onion rings were incredible. Breakfast was also very tasty and great portion size.
The bar, cocktail room and coffee lounge had a really relaxed atmosphere.
The rooms are all newly decorated and well equipped. The beds were so comfortable!
Staff were all really friendly.

The hotel itself was joyful - it felt as if we were walking straight into an Agatha Christie novel! Warm welcome though a bit swift an impersonal when asking for is to decide on dining times and to pay the bill upfront.
We were upgraded to an amazing room with a separate living room, bedroom and small bathroom. Luxury feel to the spaces, eclectic furniture, fixtures and fittings. Bed was super comfy and we woke up to a glorious view of Haweswater and the mountains across the reservoir.
Food was nice - we ate in the bar. It was touch expensive for what it was, but it was decent enough. Service a little sporadic and I would add that we should perhaps have been offered things like water for the table etc.
An absolutely charming server helped us choose a delicious bottle of Merlot and was happy to engage in a chat whilst we decided on desserts. Local butters, cheeses, pickles and breads were served and were very delicious.
Breakfast was again nice enough and plenty of choice although the coffee was a little on the weak side. Would only ask that it’s made a little stronger and hotter!!
Views from the private dining room were glorious. They really do make the experience of staying very special.
We spent a really pleasant evening playing draughts in the front drawing room - stunning decor and again, an eclectic mix of wartime music choices.
Overall we would recommend this hotel - seemed very welcoming for dogs too. With a few tweaks (and a few nice scented candles about the place!) it makes a really lovely place to stay. We only wish the weather had been more favourable so we could have explored. We used Yhe Haweswater as a stopover on our way up to Scotland and it was perfect for that.
Friendly, relaxed, quirky - just a little expensive for food.
