This classic French Canadian style bed and breakfast is a charming little gem tucked away in the beautiful countryside of Charlevoix and is about a 10 minute drive from La Malbaie. The hosts were delightful, very accessible and most accommodating. The auberge is cozy, clean and comfortable with a very homey and welcoming atmosphere. Our room was small but very clean and cutely decorated with a woodland feel. The bed was very comfortable. In the small reception area there is a little boutique offering local products including soap and candles. On arrival you are asked to choose among the soaps to use during your stay and can also be purchased for use at home. There is also a small gym and a hot tub for guest's use. But the "piece de resistance" was the unexpected bonus that their kitchen is a creperie and not only includes breakfast crepes for its guests but also offers an evening menu! Also, if you are lucky enough to be there on the weekend (sadly, we were not) there is live music on selected Saturdays. One of the hosts happens to also be the very skilled crepe chef and a member of the band! The curious name of the auberge becomes easily understood once you realize the hosts' love of music, especially of a particular local Quebecois group. Feeling tired after a day of travel to arrive at the auberge, we decided not to venture out as we had originally planned. Instead, we stayed to enjoy what ended up being a simply fabulous dinner on our first evening. The duck confit crepe with emmenthal, apples and walnuts and an assortment of thoughtfully arranged fresh and colourful local garnishes and sides was delectable and our wine selection was also excellent. The breakfast crepes were also absolutely delicious! The savoury or sweet choices were made to perfection as well as generously embellished with a variety of fresh fruits and of course a side of maple syrup!
