FAQs about hotels in Victoria

Ye Olde England in British Columbia's Capital

Picture Ye Olde English pubs, turn-of-the-century British buildings and immaculately planned parks. Now place it in a pristine coastal environment on Vancouver Island in Canada and you have the capital city of British Columbia, a region of extraordinary and unabashed beauty.

Grab your camera and head for a walk in the Garden City to the beautiful Butchart Gardens with its colourful flowers and foliage that change through the seasons. Revitalise your lungs with some pure Canadian air by going cycling along the largest network of bicycle tracks for any city in Canada.

The Inner Harbour provides many activities both on land or out to sea. Buskers and artists make this a lively epicentre of entertainment with many restaurants or take a harbour cruise to admire the coast from afar.

Whale watching is a must-do excursion from Victoria Harbour with the Orca whale a popular attraction. Craigdarroch Castle and the Royal British Columbia Museum are favourite day trips in the capital.

BC Ferries from Vancouver gets you to the southern tip of Vancouver Island. You can then drive a short distance to the city centre where most of the hotels are found on Booking.com. Victoria International Airport services flights from Canada and the USA.

Love all the bright blooming flowers and the many parks!

Love all the bright blooming flowers and the many parks! Fun watching all the activity in the harbor. Ate lunch at Red Fish Blue Fish on the waterfront- felt like a local. The BC Museum was first class, was there for two hours. Wish we would have done the Hop On Hop Off bus, but ran out of time.

    Absolutely beautiful city!

Absolutely beautiful city! The downtown and water front are wonderful regardless of the weather. The locals are warm and inviting and the shops welcoming. No need for a car once in the downtown core. Park it and enjoy walking the area. Plenty of great coffee shops to enjoy.

This was our first trip to Victoria, BC.

This was our first trip to Victoria, BC. We took the ferry from Port Angeles, USA, and we had to wait a really long time to clear customs. It seemed we got in the "slow" line of cars. We were glad we had our car as public transportation isn't that convenient. We stayed further out from the busy harbor area and prices were a bit cheaper. Victoria's lodging is NOT inexpensive. We appreciated the reasonable rates of parking in the downtown area which we did and were able to walk to a lot of the attractions. Enjoyed the IMAX and the Royal BC Museum, toured the Legislative Assembly, walked the inner harbor and found Fan Tan Alley. We had a wonderful small group walking food and history tour. Enjoyed Butchart Gardens and drove beyond that area. Enjoyed the gardens, museums, and Tea House at Government House. Attended the wonderful music and art and crafts festival on these grounds the morning prior to catching the ferry back to the States. We ate at places we found in surrounding neighborhoods that were away from the busy tourist harbor areas.

We loved Victoria's waterfront, harbor, Chinatown and Butchart Gardens. However, with only traditional printed maps to rely on, we struggled to drive in and around the Victoria region. Road signage was frequently inconsistent or inadequate, and occasionally horrendous. We had better success in Europe! Don't assume that everyone has GPS, Google Maps or the likes.

    Nice walkable city.

Nice walkable city. The 1 hour Pedi Cab outer city your was just fabulous. Our Pedi Cab driver was filled with a wealth of historical knowledge & a really nice man. Personable & kind. It was so worthwhile. The Pedi Cab tour was the best part of our city tour, way better than walking. Toro Sushi restaurant was FABULOUS for lunch. They make 20 Bentos per day. The food & price was just amazing. Everything was SO fresh.

Quiet room. I just wanted somewhere to sleep and explore Victoria, so I found the place just right. It is on Douglas Street, a main one into downtown Victoria. I could walk to the main seafront in about 20 minutes, or catch one of the many buses. an all day bus ticket is five dollars. The room itself was roomy - two double beds and plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. Comfortable bed, microwave and coffeemaker. And The Castello cafe next door does a wide choice of breakfasts!
