    Shoal Bay was just gorgeous.

Shoal Bay was just gorgeous. Crystal clear water, dolphins visible in the bay. It was a safe, quiet, family friendly beautiful holiday location. We walked almost everywhere. Coffee every morning at Zenith, great fish and chips from Aussie Bobs (the snapper was delicious) and we drove 20minutes to Holberts Oyster Farm to buy oysters direct from the waterways! Hello early, this was a beautiful location.

All good but like any other tourist location in Australia...

All good but like any other tourist location in Australia everything closes after 10.00 pm so Nelson Bay becomes a dead tourist town. Let's see when Australia start to understand that when people are on holidays they want to stay late (some want to eat late or walk late town seeing life). The same people that holiday in Europe and find things to do after 10.30, or at midnight are the same that expect some type of nightlife in Australia's tourist places at least in holiday season. Holiday tourist ghost towns with high premiums prices.

We love Shoal Bay, although we were disappointed with our accommodation. We have stayed in another studio apartment in the Ramada previously which was much better. The area is beautiful with great walks and a beautiful beach, and eateries on the beachfront. We like to walk and go on hikes and swim, so it is a perfect destination for us.

We regularly visited Shoal Bay in the 80’s and 90’s for family holidays. We recently returned after many years and love how it hasn’t been overdeveloped but really annoyed by the parking metres. $4.50 per hour to have a coffee or go for a swim or have lunch in a cafe is too expensive. Unfortunately I doubt if we will return

The weather was uncertain but there were opportunities to appreciate the beauty of the bay and the views over Port Stephens. We took advantage of excellent take away from Giannis and mod Thai. The IGA was small but very useful. It was a good location for exploring Nelson Bay, Fingal Bay and Salamander, all worth a visit

Great location across the road from the beach, off street parking and restaurant nearby. Staff were very attentive and friendly and our room had a beach view with lots of dolphins sited from our balcony

The property is in a great location at Shoal Bay just opposite the beach with fabulous restaurants and cafes nearby. It has been recently renovated and the room I spacious and comfortable. The bed was super comfy for a restful nights sleep and the view from the balcony woven the bay was lovely.
