Really enjoyed having a Sparkling Wine by the Gas Log Fire in the beautifully appointed lounge area.
Lovely dinner in the restaurant.
Fabulous breakfast, with great coffee.
Just a 5-minute walk from the beach and 2 minutes' walk from the town center, Hotel Nelson (formerly The Nelson Resort) has a heated swimming pool, fitness center and a steam room.

We regularly visited Shoal Bay in the 80’s and 90’s for family holidays. We recently returned after many years and love how it hasn’t been overdeveloped but really annoyed by the parking metres. $4.50 per hour to have a coffee or go for a swim or have lunch in a cafe is too expensive. Unfortunately I doubt if we will return

The weather was uncertain but there were opportunities to appreciate the beauty of the bay and the views over Port Stephens. We took advantage of excellent take away from Giannis and mod Thai. The IGA was small but very useful. It was a good location for exploring Nelson Bay, Fingal Bay and Salamander, all worth a visit

Great location across the road from the beach, off street parking and restaurant nearby. Staff were very attentive and friendly and our room had a beach view with lots of dolphins sited from our balcony

Shoal bay has always been a holiday destination for us.
Shoal bay has always been a holiday destination for us. Been many times over the years and it never disappoints. My kids loved it and now the grandkids love the ease of getting to all amenities. The beach is just across the road. Shops within walking distance. Fresh air and wonderful selection is cafes and ice cream shops. The country club is our favourite place to get a great meal. We hired a canoe and paddled out to the beautiful turquoise waters. Can't explain it you have to experience it yourself.

Love the coastal area.
Love the coastal area. Minimal traffic, high rise and not over developed.
Beautiful beaches with blue tranquil water. Definitely Not a surfing beach. White sand .
Seems like a very safe area. Good places to eat. Try the Country Club for a great meal or afternoon cocktails . Also the Atmos Greek Restaurant was very nice. 5 mins drive to Little Bay Boathouse a great restaurant we lived. 10 minutes to the larger town of Nelson Bay if you want to shop, dine, or need anything. Also a wharf there with fresh seafood available.
3rd floor prime views, location to beach and the little town of Shoal Bay
My sister and I had twice daily visits from 2 to 4 rainbow lorikeets 🦜 cockatiel, and even a kookaburra. Amazing and beautiful
Beautiful view! Peaceful! Lovely Heritage King room. Shoal Bay is a beautiful area with lots of eateries to choose and a walk up to the lookout a must!
