FAQs about hotels in Vienna

Waltz Through the Pretty Streets of Vienna

Previously the centre of the Hapsburg Empire, Vienna is the current centre of Austria’s culture, economics, and politics. Visitors may think they are in a museum as they walk through the historic first district, but Vienna also has a youthful and dynamic side with lots to offer.

St Stephens Cathedral in the Inner-City is surrounded by the Ring Road, with grandiose buildings like City Hall, the Austrian Parliament, the State Opera House and the Burgtheater. Enjoy the city where amazing musicians like Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, and Mahler once lived. If you’'re visiting during the carnival season, practice your waltzing skills at one of Vienna’s 200 glamorous annual balls.

Visitors can wander around beautiful park grounds in the Wiener Prater and Schonbrunn Palace provides imperial and extravagant grounds to stroll through. After exploring, eat with the locals by enjoying famous sandwiches at Trzesniewski, a Wiener Schnitzel at Cafe Central or taste traditional wines at the city’s many Viennese pubs.

Vienna International Airport is the doorway to the heart of Vienna. Booking.com has luxury hotels, charming bed & breakfasts and modern apartments to meet any accommodation needs for your stay in Austria’s capital.

A very beautiful city with unique buildings and a lot of museums. The best thing in Vienna is that you can go everywhere using the public transportation, which is realy cheap if you buy the 7 days ticket. Keep in mind, if you travel during summer, that the weather can be really hot, so look for a property with airconditioning.

Major tourist city and former key city of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. The history and architecture is incredible but so is the modern living aspect of the city such as being a top vegan city with my wonderful restaurants and cafes. Best to avoid the busy times of year or day and view sites when there are fewer tourists, as it can be overrun at peak times of day. This is true of most major tourist cities in Europe nowadays.

I had only visited Vienna briefly before, for a day trip and some work occasions, so it was a great pleasure to explore it. it has quite a compact historic centre, very walkable, though the overall city is large and we felt we only scratched the surface - for instance, we found nice places to eat and drink, but didn't really have a sense of where the lively social or nightlife districts were. Some highlights included the rooftop Sky Bar and restaurant on top of the Steffl department store, a very good restaurant and bar by the Twin City Liner ferry stop for Bratislava. The museum quarter and palace are lovely to wander around and we loved the Spanish Horses tour and the famous ferris wheel. Also took the ferry to Bratislava for a day trip which was well worth it - a lovely 1.5 hour journey along the Danube, and a second city in complete contrast to Vienna

    Honestly we have expected more.

Honestly we have expected more. We have spent 3 days in Budapest and Bratislava before our visit to Vienna and we felt a little bit disappointing. The biggest problem we had was on our arrival day (Sunday), when all groceries/ shops were closed. All of the attractions were too crowded for us, and in addition to the extremely hot weather during our stay, gave us not a great experience there. The ZOO also did not meet our expectations, maybe because we visited the Budapest Zoo in the previous days.

We liked public transport, its very funtional and easy to use; there are a lot of things to do and visit, and mostly people are very nice. We didnt like smoking restrictions in closed spaces (restaurants, caffes etc..)

    Vienna is superb.

Vienna is superb. The city centre is full of interesting historical buildings, with endless amounts of places to eat. There are also public fountains located around with cold, fresh water. You're an hour away from Bratislava and I'd recommend taking the trip as it's also a very pretty city, but much smaller. To the east of the city centre is the Danube, which has a 21km island with lots of recreational activities on it. I rode all around on a rented bike and had a blast. To the north of the city is rolling hills and vineyard. It's away from traffic, so it's incredible peaceful and you have some of the best views of the city.

Exceptional staff and service. Very clean as well with daily housekeeping if wanted. The location was perfect as only 2 stops from the city centre via tram service 43 amd 44 along with services 5 and 33 going north and south. The continental breakfast is great value for money if you pre-booked it or pay on daily basis depending on plans. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable on just about everything and can tell you how to get anywhere or what things to see or do. I won't use any other hotel in Vienna due to all the above.

what a fantastic place this is! in the city centre of Vienna in walkable distance of some great sights and close to the main central station that has a direct connection to the airport - almost don’t want to praise this too much and keep as a secret to myself but that wouldn’t be fair to the team of grätzlhotel, as they were fantastic. a lovingly chosen and contemporary design of the room made us feel right at home and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for accommodation in Vienna!
