The property was very inviting and responsive on messaging. The facilities were clean, calm and accessible. The area is very quiet and walkable. There is a grocery store within a 10 min walk or a two min drive. There purpose of my trip was to explore, hike a bit in the Alps and have a quiet weekend. I booked this place because they had a sauna which after a long hike, came in very handy.
The property hosts had many great recommendations for the area hikes and dining. As a solo, single female traveler who speaks English there was no problem in comfort and communication.
The staff were genuinely friendly and happy to help.

If I were smarter, I would not share this Little Gem". This is one terrific Gasthof in one lovely village. One hundred meters 'off the beaten path' lies this early hotel. A smart traveller would keep this Jewel hidden!
The owner and his lovely wife could not have made our stay any better. Our room was well appointed, and quiet. Immediately upon arriving, hotel staff carried our bags to our room, checked us in, gave us Visitor Cards providing free access to cablecars, museums, historic building, and the fabulous Burg Maunterndorf Castle, five minutes on foot. Parking was available directly outside our hotel.
The breakfast buffet was one of the best we found in our five weeks in Austria and Germany, and our eggs were cooked to order. Dinner was in a cosy dining room, with an excellent menu. Service was prompt, and attentive. We dined several evening, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and wonderful local specialties. The desserts were even better!
Hotel Steffner-Wallner is one place we will return to.

Offering half board and country-style rooms, Haus Lungau is 1640 feet from the Großeck Ski Area on the outskirts of Mauterndorf. You are welcome to use the sauna and relaxation area.
