I stayed one night at the Gasthof zur Post during my visit to the Großlockner Alpine Road. The place exceeded my expectations. Nice quiet room on the 3rd floor, with a nice balcony overlooking a portion of town. The room could have accommodated a family of five (plus pets—the place is dog-friendly). Owners Tanja Neubauer and Hans were very very friendly. I wanted to get up quite early to catch the rising sun on the road and Tanj prepared breakfast for me earlier than the normal opening time. It was an excellent start to the day. I definitely recommend the Gasthof zur Post. It's about 20 minutes away from Zell am See and about 25 mins. to the toll booth of the Großlocknerstrasse.
