St Stephens Cathedral in the Inner-City is surrounded by the Ring Road, with grandiose buildings like City Hall, the Austrian Parliament, the State Opera House and the Burgtheater. Enjoy the city where amazing musicians like Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, and Mahler once lived. If you're visiting during the carnival season, practice your waltzing skills at one of Viennas 200 glamorous annual balls.
Visitors can wander around beautiful park grounds in the Wiener Prater and Schonbrunn Palace provides imperial and extravagant grounds to stroll through. After exploring, eat with the locals by enjoying famous sandwiches at Trzesniewski, a Wiener Schnitzel at Cafe Central or taste traditional wines at the city’s many Viennese pubs.

A clean and prosperous city with plenty to see and do over 4-5 days. The music was great, but the Albertina Museum was a disappointment because the Chagall exhibition was too crowded and over-subscribed; there were inadequate toilet facilities - only one toilet each for gents and ladies (except for groups) and poor signage throughout - not good enough in 2025 for an international exhibition space.

Book everything online as everything seems to have timed entry to manage visitor numbers.
They are very very efficient at moving people through queues so don't be put off by a long queue anywhere they will have you inside in no time. Restaurants, museums everything.
The Opera House sells 'standing seats', which literally means a space to stand, not pleasant for 3 hours, only buy a proper seat.
Definitely attend as many classical music nights as you can, they were all fabulous and the rooms lovely. Again don't buy a standing seat!
The best thing we did was to go the Military Museum, it was epic and they have tanks out the back and even a navy museum - yes they had a navy! The building alone is worth visiting! It was the best thing ever, fabulous for anyone! I can't rave enough about this one!!
Also the carriage museum was full and interesting! Glad to have been there when visiting the palace.
The Spanish Horses were great but you would do equally as well to simply watch them train as to watch the show.
Vienna is easy to walk almost anywhere.

I recommend Belvedere Palace and Schönbrunn Palace, Hofburg, as well as Kunsthistorischen Museum, Albertina, Sisi Museum, and Prunksaal Bibliothek (old library). Visit Cafe Sacher, but do that early in the morning to avoid queueing (they open at 7 am, till 11 am it's relatively easy to get inside). After cafe go inside Opera and check when there are tours (this day or another).

Vienna is probably the nicest capital city in Europe, maybe even in the world. It is full of imperial glory, yet not too big, very easy to navigate, wonderful food, great shops, museums, parks and people. Very international.

Visited in December for the Christmas Markets.
Visited in December for the Christmas Markets. Shops were closed for Christmas and the day after so plan accordingly. Walked a lot and enjoyed everything I saw and ate. I could have extended my stay 1-2 more days to enjoy museums and cultural events.

The people of the City are the most kind, helpful and polite - that I have come across. Heartwarming.
We went to Volksoper, Statoper and Porgy&Bess Club - these were fantastic occasions, great music.
The Albertina Gallery is fantastic - would have liked to do Leopold and Mumok as well.
Schoenbrun was a bit rushed - better in summer
The Belvedere Gallery was fantastic.

Great location only 100 yards away from the Underground (U3) which takes you in to the city centre in 3 stops. Lovely locality with nice bars and restaurants on the doorstep. A beautiful breakfast in a gorgeous room backing out on to a secluded rear garden. Many rooms overlook the garden and if we return to Vienna we would try to book one of these. Good organic vegan/vegetarian options with the breakfast which was a bonus for us. We had a comfortable spacious room at the front of the hotel and the street is very quiet.
Staff were friendly and helped with any requests. Room facilities were as advertised - toiletries provided in bathroom, rooms were made up daily. There were no extras like in other hotels, such as a safe, kettle etc but these were not advertised either. Even so, I requested one and it was provided (kettle). The location was great for me, easily accessible to city centre by public transport. Room was very spacious. Cheaper than most other hotels in Vienna.
The hotel is located within 8 minutes flat walk to Vienna Hbf railway station and is surrounded by restaurants and bars. The city centre is a short ride by tram. The room we occupied was situated on the 1st floor and was spacious, clean and quiet. The extra large bed was extremely comfortable. The hotel’s greatest assets was its staff who were most friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We enjoyed our stay and would use this hotel again.
Wonderful location within walking distance of the main city centre. There is an underground station nearby. The hotel is basic and no frills, and good value for central Vienna. They stored our luggage for a few hours on the day of check out.
The hotel is conveniently located for those arriving on the airport express train and a short walk into the city centre. The hotel was clean and all the staff very helpful. I’d definitely return if I came to Vienna again.
