Set in Rapid City, 27 km from Mount Rushmore, Sweetgrass Inn Bed & Breakfast offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. It was spotlessly clean and its countryside location made it a restful haven. To be surrounded by fields and in quiet surroundings was perfect. My room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom facilities were excellent and extra bonus marks for providing a rubber bath mat to stand on when showering. You do not see that little touch too often. The breakfast bar which doubled as a restaurant and bar during the day and into the evening provided a perfect place to eat or relax after a day out. Adam and Andrea were perfect hosts, too. They were friendly and relaxed and happy to help with anything. I can not fault this establishment. My five nights with them were all outstanding value for money.

Set in Platte, Dakota Country Inn has barbecue facilities. With a garden, the 2-star inn has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. When I arrived, the owner suggested we visit the Missouri river during sunset and it was beautiful. Perfect swim before the end of the day. The laundry machines were priced well and worked wonderfully. Breakfast was exactly as I expected and the kids enjoyed themselves.

The Quality Inn Brookings-University hotel is conveniently located one mile from South Dakota State University. Breakfast was good. Heater in the room worked great and was quiet.

The Quality Inn hotel is located north of Interstate 90, six miles from the Mitchell Municipal Airport. It was a good breakfast. Lots of choices.
