Excellent dinner and breakfast. Great facilities
A wonderful and cozy inn, run by a cute Japanese family. They will give you floating tubes, shovels, and water shoes for the hot spring river in front of the inn. They made us breakfast and set it out with a nice note for us to take with us on our early morning hike. Be sure to book dinner with the inn because there are only 2 other restaurants nearby. I highly recommend staying here for a cute and cozy mountain experience!
From the moment you enter, it feels very serene. We arrived to gracious staff, who helped with our bags, gave us a matcha and snack before showing us the temple grounds, inseam, and our rooms. The dinner was exceptional, the onsen and view were brilliant, and the morning ceremony, followed by breakfast topped off a humbling, zen experience.
Lovely traditional guest house with all the facilities you could need, including a washer and dryer. Our host was excellent, he was very hospitable and made us the most amazing dinner spread which was very worth the money and a lovely experience. Highly recommend!
We loved this Guest House in a rural area close to Tanabe with a beautiful view of sea. The hosts Giovanni and Yakata were both very warm and welcoming. Giovanni cooked a fabulous 5 course Italian style meal for dinner and a lovely breakfast next morning. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed the interaction with the hosts and other guests. We ordered the pickup and drop off which worked very smoothly.
Digging your own hot spring next to the river was the best experience! The breakfast and dinner were fantastic! Best breakfast on the kumano kodo! They also organized a bento lunchbox for us (which was prepared by someone else and also less tasty than the food we got from the pension)
This guest house is a gem. If you are curious about koysan, I can't recommend this place enough. The owner is very helpful and gives an outline of the things to do while you're here. The location is close to one of the main temples, and close enough to a bus stop to explore the rest of town. Ryochi (the owner) can also facilitate breakfast and dinner if you let him know in advance.
Great location right in the heart of koyasan town. Very convenient to walk to any attractions nearby. Room facilities are up to bar with some 2-3 star hotel I have been to. Tommy is a super friendly host. He recommends a lot of great local experiences from places to have dinner to different trekking trails and temple rituals you can attend for free. Tommy and his wife run a cafe next door and it’s open from 8am which is a rare thing in koyasan (most shops open at 11am). You get a big discount if you stay at Tommy guest house too ❤️
This is a charming and relaxed guest house not far from the beach. Beautifully renovated and looked after. Our host Mizu spoke perfect English and helped with everything we needed: bicycles, dinner reservations and even booking a massage! Nice relaxed atmosphere in a family setting.
It used to be a well-known inn located very close to the world heritage dipping bath called “tsuboyu”. Pretty large and spacious for a guest house. Cooked rice was available for dinner and congee for breakfast. They sell canned miso sardines, mackerels etc. that go well with the soupy rice. We also made onsen eggs by dipping eggs in the hot spring river nearby. These made super reasonable and delicious breakfast.
