Maruba Inn is a lovely little guesthouse, a little bit away from the bigger resorts and guesthouses and from the street. This makes it a great, quiet and private place. Our room had an amazing view over the lake and a wonderful balcony. The bed was amazing, the room very clean and there was hot water for the shower. The location is very central, it’s only a little walk to plenty of bars and restaurants around.
Although it's not the most impressive looking accommodation on the island the location and the rooms made it absolutely perfect, the food was great and the staff really welcoming. We hired a scooter for the day from the guest house and explored the island.
A comfortable and friendly hotel. Good selection for breakfast. Good meals for dinner. Lovely pool. Great massage onsite.
The people were so warm and friendly, it made our stay at the Jungle Inn very special. I would thoroughly recommend the 2 day hike for any age as long as you are generally fit and healthy. Food was great. Location beautiful overlooking the river and jungle. We arrived via motorbike in the evening and it looked so pretty. Bukit lawang is charming with lots of bars and restaurants. We stayed for 4 nights but wish we had stayed longer.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this homestay! The whole family are lovely people. We were given some great tips for what to do in Berastagi, the included breakfast was delicious, and dinner was very nice as well. Kaesa organised a great trip to Sibayak for us, as well as transportation to the airport. We would wholeheartedly recommend this homestay to anyone thinking about visiting Berastagi.
We stayed for two nights - big bedroom, two king size beds, one single bed, everything very clean. Self-made breakfast and dinner by Cecilia was amazing, traditional food, fresh fruits and whole grain bread - we loved it. Smiley and Cecilia spoke English very well, we learnt a lot about the culture and living. We especially enjoyed the two tours we did with Smiley - Volcano Sibayak at sunrise and Batak village and market. Smiley's Homestay in Berastagi was definitely one of our Sumatra highlights.
The views from the hotel room....lovely.. I waited for sunrise on the two mornings that I was there. It's a homestay ...hence, the owner kept us well informed. We had lovely cooked dinners and breakfasts.
