San Antonio
At the inn, the rooms have a wardrobe. Featuring a private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries, rooms at Kucha Wasi Hosteria also feature free WiFi, while some rooms are fitted with a patio. All rooms in the accommodation are fitted with a flat-screen TV and a hairdryer. Nice friendly people and good location.
Huigra
An outdoor swimming pool surrounded by gardens and hammocks can be enjoyed in Huigra, 500 metres from the train station and 200 metres from Panama Cascade. Wi-Fi is free. Nariz del Diablo station is a 40-minute drive away. Hostería La Eterna Primavera also offers outdoor activities. The location was very difficult to find, we were travelling from Cuenca and the roads were completely blocked with landslides. We thought we were booking a place in Alausi, but it is located in Huigra.
The room was big and the breakfast was good. While there were not a lot of vegetarian options at dinner, the quinoa dish was really good. We came back for lunch the next day since there weren't many other vegetarian options.
Great experience in a local community. We enjoyed it very much. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They are very acommodating with super early breakfast or super late dinner, which we appreciated when we had to leave for the mountains.
Irma, the owner, was the nicest person. We arrived at night really hungry on a day that almost no restaurants were open and she organised us a delivery for dinner and it arrived in less than 15minutes. She was also telling us very interesting stories about the Chimborazo and Riobamba. The beds were comfortable and the twin bedroom was spacious. The shower was amazing. The breakfast was prepared by her and it was one of the best breakfasts I ever had at a hostel. Really delicious and complete!
I especially enjoyed the breakfasts Irma prepared for me and how helpful she was with everything. As a solo traveler, she took me under her wing and provided for all my needs, I was able to use her kitchen for Preparing my dinners and gave me suggestions on things to do.
A charming place to stay, close to Guamote by car but far enough to enjoy a quiet night. Nicely furnished, very welcoming. A small heating in the room makes the difference. Very good (& generous) dinner and breakfast.
Good environment, most of the other travlers were other hikers so easy to find people to hike with or to get hiking tips. They also rent out some hiking gear at the propety. Was fun cooking dinner in the communcal kitchen. 25 minute walk from bus station, 10 minute walk from centro, plenty of shops nearby. Safe location, wifi was ok.
One of the few hotels in Guamote. Cozy hotel, nicely decorated, supports schools for locals. Super hospitable staff. Rooms are basic and on the fresh side, frugal breakfast, nice dinner.
Cute courtyard where everyone sits for dinner. Good kitchen, fab breakfast. Very comfy and big beds.
Susana, the Host was very kind and helpfull. and also a wonderfull Cook. We enjoyed our eveningdinner two days in a row. It was a delightfull and Healthy meal -3 courses. We would recommand everybody to stay in this real Ecuadorian hostel. Besides that, the village with its real ecuadorian market (including animals) is worth a visit. A Must See ‚hospedaje‘!
