Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
The family who own and run the ryokan are delightful - welcoming and very helpful. I stayed here 15 years ago and they continue to run an exceptional traditional-style inn, if anything it has improved over the years. The updated onsen is a lovely feature. The breakfasts are delicious. Relatively easy walking distance to the “National Treasure” which is the castle of Matsumoto-Jo and to the superb modern art museum; easy bus ride to/from the rail station.
A modern Japanese ryokan with a few rooms. Central eating area. But also an onsen, showers and living room with tea/ coffee. Nice Japanese breakfast. We booked an additional dinner.
The hotel operates as a traditional Japanese inn, which means it is Tatami paved. You need to take off your shoes and leave them at the entrance.
The highlight for me was the public bath (one for men and another for women), exactly what I needed after two days of hiking with bag packs.
The breakfast & dinner is always great. The portion of food served is kind of a lot.! The staff was very attentive to our needs. Even if you do not ask for a lamp, they bring and put in your room in the next day!
Very clean shared facilities. Close proximity to bus station to Mount Norikura area. Breakfast and dinner meals were plentiful in quantity and delicious in taste. The proprietors of the establishment were warm and friendly.
Great location and super friendly owner. We had dinner at the guest house twice. They had a simple vegan option, which was nice. Optional sauna (extra cost) was great as well!
Greeted by the host with a smile and welcome. Beautiful little place, rustic and well thought out. Common areas were good and clean and relaxing. Beds comfortable, shared bathroom was right next so like at home. Had dinner in restaurant, set menu, fresh and delicious.
Found Bus/train Station 200 mtrs away which was a great surprise for getting to Kamikochi Park.
This place might be 1 star but it's a very shiny gold star. Well done.
The guest house is in a very convenient location. It is less than 10 min away from the station and is a short walk to the castle as well. There are many stores and restaurants nearby. The staff was really friendly, helpful and spoke fluent English. I was given a great recommendation for dinner. You can use the fridge, stove and cooking utensils. The beds were warm and comfortable.
