I almost don't want to tell anyone how fabulous this place is in case it's booked out for when I next want to visit! This hotel is absolutely amazing, with a location you just can't beat - right in the heart of Higashiyama, a 1 minute walk up the street from the Yasaka Pagoda and a convenient walk to everywhere you need to go in the area. The sunset view of both the pagoda and the Kyoto skyline on the rooftop is stunning, don't miss it. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the room itself was huge! I loved the modern industrial vibe, it was really cool. I will definitely stay here again!

It was one of the best budget hotels we lived in Japan. It was spacious, comfortable, convenient location close to the bus stop. It had a laundry machine in the room which was really great.

We had a wonderful stay. Room was spacious and Futon beds were very comfortable. Location was good, in-between central Kyoto and Higashiyama which were both walkable. The owner was very kind and made us soup on New Years Day! We would definitely stay again.

This is not your average hotel, but a step back in history and culture. It is a true experience and we are so glad we included this on our family trip to Japan. Management and staff were wonderful and made every effort to make us feel at home. The traditional Japanese breakfast and special dinner served in our room were incredible.
This is the best hotel we have stayed in in kyoto its so clean and nice everything is as described exactly, great attention to detail and the staff is so helpful with assisting us to make a dinner reservation. It is a beautiful hotel in a great location loved the quality it is definitely fantastic value for money.
The rooms were clean, our futons were prepared each night of our stay and our tea and snacks were replaced each day. The location is really good for access to the major attractions, great restaurants and two different train lines. The inn looks beautiful on the outside and gives a really nice traditional and authentic feel when you step inside.
A nice sense of tradition. Very helpful and friendly staff. Effort had been put into making sure we had a comfortable stay for example give a map and dinner suggestions and activities to do.
We had an amazing time! Thanks to the wonderful innkeepers and all the helpful staff. The room was spotless and well-equipped with a microwave, washing machine and dryer. There was no extra charge for this. The bedrooms were also very shaded at night. What impressed us the most was the excellent communication from the inn. When we left on our last day, the hostel owner gave us a very convenient route to the airport, which saved us a lot of trouble!
We liked how spacious the room was and the kind innkeeper that guided us to our room and showed us the ropes, she was the sweetest. The bath was nice too, but definitely not big enough for two people so it was good only one of us went. The location is great and in the Gion District and also a 5 minute walk from the station!
Koya Guest House is a classic Ryokan inn. The place has its character and it is a privilege indeed to have a chance to stay in a guest house like this.
There is a garden outside the common area where you can sit and enjoy the quiet beauty of the place.
My room has everything for me to feel comfortable. I am very happy I booked this place.
Breakfast is simple but a good start for a day, with an unlimited team and coffee during the day.
