Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
I picked Calypso because of the recently renovated property, since I had only a few days to do a lot hiking, swimming and boating around and wanted a comfy bed and nice shower. The bed is indeed big and comfortable, there is a fancy rain shower, all new fixtures and a balcony with a great view. But the real plus of Calypso are the family that run it. I’m honored to have met them. I wanted to try some of the other taverns in the village, but the food at Calypso was too good.
Had an amazing time in Faragi before my hike in Samaria gorge. The room had everything I needed and the taverna below served such good food! Also as I was hiking up the gorge and then back again, it was really helpful that it was possible to leave my big backpack in the taverna for the hike.
Sweet Corner Masxali is a lovely traditional taverna with rooms. The studios are generous, with extra rooms/beds and private bathrooms, and ours had a small balcony facing the sea with room to sit. The beach is just a step away. The taverna is a lovely place to spend time under a huge shady tree, the owners are friendly and generous, and the food is lovely. We would love to visit this magical location again.
Lovely quiet place to chill for a few days. Spotlessly clean, quiet, spacious room (newly refurbished). Great taverna attached. Run with relaxed informality by the multi-lingual owners. You might get an expert demonstration of the Cretan lyra, and a story or two.
Perfect location for our overnight stay in order to continue our walking trip.
Located immediately opposite the ferry drop point. Quaint and pretty town with a few tavernas and bars to complete. Our room was massive, tidy and clean and staff were welcoming.
We liked the proximity to the sea and walking. Eating breakfast overlooking the water and listening to the waves lapping on the beach at night in bed. Andreas was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The room was basic which we expected with a hairdryer, fridge and quirky but functional shower and hangers for drying on the balcony. Breakfast and dinner were tasty and substantial.
Our room was spacious, clean and with a stunning view of the Libyan sea. Like all rooms in Agia Roumeli this is a basic hotel but it has been renovated, it's right up near the beachfront, it has Air-conditioning that actually works and the owner of the property and the taverna downstairs is very warm and welcoming.
