Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
Amazing food, brilliant service, really friendly and attentive staff, lovely gardens and peaceful setting. Only thing that lets it down is really dated decor and some very high pricing on the dinner menu. But all in all really exceptional for what I was expecting to be a fairly standard hotel.
The thing that really impressed me was the attention to detail with regard to customer service. When we arrive we were shown to our room with our cases carried in very much a 5* fashion. The front of house could not have been more accommodating really old school attentiveness The dinner though rated as 2 x AA Stars would easily attract 1 x Michelin Star based on our experiences across Europe. The hosts clearly live for their hotel/restaurant and they deserve every success. I Would strongly recommend the The Auberge.
Jake and Katy were great hosts and helped us with small things like freezing our freezer blocks to take with us each day. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant on our first evening which was a special treat. The property is easy to find as it's located right on the A140 Norwich to Ipswich road. It gave us a really good central base for exploring Suffolk attractions. Our 6 breakfasts were consistently delicious. Plenty of off road parking. There is also a lovely garden area to sit in with picnic tables.
