The Traveller's Rest, hotel in Troutbeck

Located in Grasmere, The Traveller's Rest features a restaurant, bar, garden, and free WiFi. This 3-star inn offers luggage storage space. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge.

I’m not often moved emotionally by a location, however the Travellers Rest really hit the spot for me! It was a long awaited catch up with my partner and we could not have found a better place, the staff are amazing, they genuinely make you feel so welcomed with a fantastic none judgemental attitude, we have found in the past being a male couple, some establishments act awkward or not very welcoming but not here, it was like coming home and being welcomed by family! The pub/restaurant is absolutely fantastic, could not fault the food, even though we arrived quite late on, they still accommodated us so we could have a good hearty meal! After our food, we where shown to the room (No3) what a beautiful, clean and comfortable room, I thought that we had been put in a much more expensive room but this is the standard that you can see they clearly strive for. Being out in the countryside, the hotel was amazingly quiet with just the occasional traffic noise, this did not bother us at all, we sleep with the window open so could not moan in the slightest, they have secondary glazing so I am confident that you would not hear the traffic noise! Breakfast was just superb, a great selection of cereals and drinks to get you started, the menu selection is also very good with plenty to choose from, we both had the full English breakfast, this set us both up for the day and a 6 hour walk! I would 110% come back here, especially knowing that they are dog friendly in certain rooms. If you do choose to stay here, I must suggest that you go outside when it’s dark and the bar has closed, the darkness and silence is almost spiritual, a genuinely perfect location! I hope to see the staff at The Traveller’s Rest very soon! Kindest Regards Joe & Ross

Wateredge Inn- The Inn Collection Group, hotel in Troutbeck

Wateredge Inn- The Inn Collection Group stands on the shores of Lake Windermere, a short walk from Ambleside centre.

Breakfast was of excellent quality. Maybe suggest having the tea and coffee in the other room maybe to help with the flow of the food queue. Our room was great, cosy, small but had everything we needed and well designed layout with beautiful decor attention to details. The location is exceptional. Food options really good! Smaller portion options (Kids meals) available for those of us who do not eat massive plates - staff very helpful with this. A busy chaotic place, but was never made to feel not welcome, we thoroughly enjoyed the bustling atmosphere and flow of people. The outside area is simply wonderful! Views, atmosphere and extremely welcoming!

Staying at the Mortal Man Inn was an enchanting experience. The inn's Harry Potter-like atmosphere added a magical touch to the clean and comfortable rooms, making it a unique getaway. The pet-friendly policy was a big plus, making our furry friends feel as welcome as we did. The food was exceptional, showcasing both quality and taste, and the views, especially from my room, were breathtaking. It's a place where hospitality, great food, and magical charm blend perfectly
