Lovely pub in a quiet village. Road was being repaired overnight but the hotel informed us in advance we didn't hear it. Perfect location for the Harwich ferry ( 16min drive ) and much cheaper than accommodation closer to the port.

I don't know what people expect. But I disagree with a lot of reviews here and I was hesitant to book here.
Good I did!
Almost everything. Especially the staff. The manager was lovely, always keen to help and give Information when needed. Nice size room and a lot of atmosphere. Breakfast was very tasty and plenty, good coffee too. And the location was good. Literally in the centre of the city.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. It’s a good location, close to the seaport and train station. I would recommend it to a friend!
Boasting a garden and a bar, The Victory at Mersea is set in West Mersea. This property also has a restaurant and a children's playground. Both free WiFi and private parking are accessible at the inn....
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
A proper old fashioned English Inn with the quirky un-levelled floors on top level and wooden beams to boot . Staff were very attentive and helpful . Only complaints would be the noise at night as there was a wedding going on in the inn plus clean up till early hours of morning right below our room .Breakfast was excellent and a nice range of options .
Shower a bit temperamental but managed to get it going in the end . Overall very good value for money .
Warm friendly, courteous and attentive staff team. Public areas were clean and presentable with a pleasant ambiance. Also benefits from a private paved rear garden. Our room was clean, comfortable and bright, well apportioned with excellent facilities. We had dinner and breakfast and both meals were selected from excellent and varied menus offering adequate choice for all palates. The meals were of generous portions and excellent quality. They also have entertainment nights with tribute acts, unfortunately not on the evening we were staying.
Friendly welcome, staff very helpful. Saturday pensioner lunch exceeded our expectations for value, choice, presentation etc.Breakfast menu offered varied choice and was extremely tasty.
Our room was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with tea/coffee making facilities.
Lovely period Inn, fantastic staff, breakfast and cheeseboard. Comfy bed, large TV screen, coffee, tea and biscuits in room. Check out 11am. Parking out front, beer garden and quiet. Great discount as booked after 5 on same day.
Great Breakfast and lovely location. Loved the little fridge on the room. So glad as there was also a fan as room did get warm at night. Also had a fantastic roast dinner with beautiful meat and plenty of vegetables. We stayed as a stop over for one night, and if you walk behind the church there is a great dog walk on your doorstep. Lovely outdoor area too in the sun trap for a lovely pint of Guinness
