The Weary Friar was very comfortable. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was delicious.
The atmosphere in the pub and dining area was very warm and inviting.
The bed was also comfortable and the towels were large and fluffy.
The location in the centre of Pillaton and next to St Odulph church was very special. We were sad to leave this lovely place.

Little choice of continental breakfast. No gluten free cereal. Cooked breakfast was good.
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening, which distinguishes them from country or guest houses.
It was an attractive old pub in the centre of town. Space both inside and out was used innovatively. Our room although a little on the small side was very well thought out and comfortable with a good shower and cosy bed.
The best things though were the food standard and the very friendly and helpful staff especially Toshi who made us feel so welcome and suggested lovely places to visit.
The staff were so friendly. We had a fantastic dinner in the restaurant. Can highly recommend.
The breakfast was of a very high standard loved the bacon ...
The owners and staff were excellent and made us very welcome. The breakfast was very good and plentiful which saw us through to dinner with only a light lunch. The pub was nicely decorated and provided wonderful views from the garden. Easy access to travelling the surrounding areas.
We received a warm welcome on arrival. Dinner was very nice and the hotel had a lovely ambience.
The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was good.
A wonderful gastropub - the food and service are exceptional. We stayed one night in a very comfortable room with a great bathroom. The highlight of our stay was the staff and the amazing food - both breakfast and dinner were beautifully presented, delicious and imaginative. It's not surprising that they were rated No. 2 in the top 50 Gastropubs. If you get the opportunity to stay here you will be very happy - we would love to return.
Breakfast was excellent.
Room was comfortable, although the bathroom was very small.
Dinner prices were too expensive, with no choice for less costly meals.
Everything was great! Exceptional food and service, fantastic views, comfortable bed, very welcoming and felt like home from home. Our little jack russell was really spoiled by the staff and owners. Only a short drive from Tavistock with pannier market and varied shops. We have travelled quite a bit I the UK and stayed at many hotel and B&B, I can quite honestly say that the Mary navy Inn has been the best experience of all so far.
We were blown away by this property. It was spacious, beautifully decorated and very homely. We were there for three nights but could've stayed longer. It was less than a 10-minute drive to Tavistock so it was easy to pop out for lunch or dinner, if we didn't fancy cooking. My husband and I had to both work a bit while we were away and the WiFi was excellent, able to support both laptops with ease.
We expected a cosy accommodation in city B&B (pub),....and found so much more. A great place with very attentive and friendly staff. The room was very nice and stylish and the bed super comfy. Also worth mentioning is the bathroom which was rather spacious.
Twice we had dinner at the hotel (ie. at the pub) and it truly was a fantastic and delicious experience. We can absolutely recommend this hotel and would stay there again should we come back to Tavistock.
