Three Horseshoes Leamside, hotel in Sunderland

Boasting a garden, restaurant, bar and free WiFi, Three Horseshoes Leamside is set in Houghton le Spring, 14 km from Beamish Museum and 18 km from Stadium of Light.

We loved staying at The Three Horseshoes. Our room was gorgeous, and the food so good. We ate at the pub the night we arrived and had intended to eat elsewhere on our 2nd night but enjoyed it so much we came back and ate at the pub again. But what made The Three Horseshoes really lovely were the staff - friendly, helpful, and just so welcoming, from Daryl to the servers in the restaurant, to the lovely cleaner who we chatted to before we left and who had such pride in her work and in The Three Horseshoes family. We just booked to come back for our next visit in a few weeks, when we're back up to watch Sunderland again!

The Kingslodge Inn - The Inn Collection Group, hotel in Sunderland

The Kingslodge Inn - The Inn Collection Group offers a cosy bar, a restaurant and easy access to Durham city centre. There is free parking on-site.

The location is central enough if you are reasonably fit and has free parking. Did not eat there other than breakfast but it does seem to have a fairly extensive lunch and dinner menu.

I want to be honest. Everything was going fantastic (we had dinner in the restaurant the night before and it was nice) until we had the breakfast. It was awful. Coffee was horrible from the machine and the English breakfast was the worst I have ever had in a hotel. I will stay again in the hotel but I will have breakfast somewhere else.

It is always very practical to stay at Balmoral when I go to Sunderland-matches. There are a few good pubs around the guest house as well. I'll be back.

Love Seaburn and love The Inn. A perfect combination. I grew up on Seaburn beach and my husband and I came to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Staff, accommodation and restaurant excellent.
