The Vernon is a charming old building with bags of character! Was travelling alone to do a course a few minutes up the road and everything was easy. From booking to checking out, everything was smooth. Checking in was simple and they were accommodating with my slightly later check in time, and my single room was comfortable and perfect for just me. Jenny keeps the pub and rooms immaculately clean and Simeon cooks a mean full English! Travelling alone can be a lonely experience but Jenny and Simeon kept me company all 3 mornings and really made it a much more enjoyable experience. Would definitely stay again if I was in the area and would recommend.

My room was large and very comfortable. The bed excellent and allowed a very good sleep. It was quiet with good facilities. I was parked outside the door, rge room being one of the three rear bedrooms. Dinner was well cooked and prepared and despite the 100 customers, the 3 staff coped admirably. There were no delays, the staff were busy but acted as though it was all routine. Their attitude was exceptional and they never seemed too busy to attend to customer needs. Breakfast is well cooked and prompt and there is a good selection.
