The Fox and Goose, hotel in Simonsbath

With free Wi-Fi throughout and free parking on site, The Fox and Goose is situated on the edge of the beautiful Exmoor National Park.

The property is situated in a charming, little Exmoor village, within easy reach of both popular coastal and inland moorland destinations. On arrival, Aiden gave us a warm and friendly welcome and was keen to make sure we had everything we needed. The room was very comfortable with quality fittings and of good size. The bathroom is very spacious with under floor heating and has a generously sized walk in shower. Breakfast came with lots of options. We started with fresh fruit salad, granola and yoghurt drizzled with honey followed by a full English breakfast with toast, preserves and fresh coffee. All of this was tasty and carefully made by Craig, who would check in with us personally to make sure all was well and the food to our liking. We ate at the pub on the Saturday evening. The menu choice was considerable. We both had Venison fillet in a blackcurrant jus with fresh vegetables and sautéed potatoes. Unsurprisingly, it was delicious and beautifully presented. Overall, Aiden and Craig made it a wonderful stay, and we look forward to returning in the future. Thanks guys!

Lovely touches in bedroom; home cooked biscuits, fridge with jug of real milk for hot drinks, several types of coffee maker; shampoo and conditioner in large refillable dispensers - not connected to wall so easy to use for both shower and bath users. Lovely view from window across fields with horse, pony and pheasants. Nice cosy bar and warm restaurant for cold evenings.

The Rest and Be Thankful Inn, hotel in Simonsbath

Set in Minehead and with Dunster Castle reachable within 11 km, The Rest and Be Thankful Inn offers a bar, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and water sports facilities.

The Chicken, Ham and leek pie was delicious, very evidently home made. The mash and veg with it were also excellent, I like my veg and it's a rarity to get them cooked so perfectly. The Banoffee pie was definitely not necessary but equally delicious. My newly decorated room was spotless and the brand new bed vey comfortable. What can I say; I think they should get awards for their food. I was still full the following morning but I had an early start and would be out in the wilds all day, so had to refill, the Breakfast was just too good !!! Obviously locally sourced and all excellent.

We have been coming to the Exmore Forrest Inn for many years and loved the unique atmosphere!!, This time we notice a big difference the place had been modernized losing the character of the place, We always have praised the wonderful food but alas on this visit not so good !Whats gone wrong,!!!! Raw vegies, roast beef was teasless and forget the yorkshire pudding!!.... Must do better!!, bring back the old standards for which it was known for. Sorry for being so critical but it has to be said Angela

We loved everything about this Inn. We loved the quick response to our booking, our quick email reply to book dinner, the food, the staff, the facility and our room. It is a cut above anywhere else we stayed. Dinner was local fresh food and the waitress was wonderful to offer me fresh vegetables rather than the chips which I did not want. Our breakfast was beautiful with continental and also a cooked portion. Delicious. The whole package is a 20 out of 10.

Wonderful place with incredible views where you can really switch off, enjoy nature and have a nice cosy evening inside by the wood burner. The cottage was beautifully renovated with lovely rustic detail and thoughtful touches throughout to make you feel welcome. Super comfortable beds too for a good night's sleep. Zoe, the host was very responsive and helpful, and responded to all our queries very quickly. Would 100% book again. Thank you.
