Recruiting Sergeant, hotel in Norwich

Boasting a garden, terrace, bar and free WiFi, Recruiting Sergeant is set in Norwich, 14 km from Blickling Hall and 7.3 km from BeWILDerwood.

There’s always a warm welcome at The Recruiting Sergeant. We stayed there a few years ago and hence our return visit. Nicola and the team were just as excellent as before, nothing is too much trouble and the food is marvellous. As good a breakfast as I’ve had anywhere and the evening menu is fabulous. Despite being very busy in the evening (lovely atmosphere) the service was great and the food of high quality.

The hotel and our room were excellent and in "as new" condition. Breakfast was included in the price and offered a wide range of options from the main menu in addition to the continental breakfast. The dinner menu was relatively limited but well cooked and presented, and we enjoyed the meal the first night so much we went there for the second night as well. It was only a 20 minute walk into town, with plenty of parking on-site.

We liked the facade of the building. The garden was pleasant and we enjoyed a soft drink outside after dinner. Overall we liked the bedroom. I chose the room for the air con., which didn’t work as well as I thought it would.

It's a beautiful place from the outside! The golf course, the bars with tables outside to have a drink or dinner in the garden, amazing outside area. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was also very good with great variety and gluten free options.

Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The owner was very friendly and approachable. We had a small problem with our shower and he fixed it straightaway. Loved the pool and gardens. It is on a main road but that didn't spoil our stay. It still felt like a peaceful spot surrounded by countryside. Room was very spacious and the bed was huge and very comfortable.

Very clean and exceptionally comfortable. The air conditioning in the room was fabulous, as we picked a warm day to visit. Staff are so friendly, happy to change our dinner booking at very late notice, as we were later arriving than planned. Would highly recommend.
