Great location for us as my wife had very early operation at Queen Vic hospital next morning. Didn’t have breakfast as a result but checkout at 11am was very useful. Had a very good Sunday roast on arrival and the young man that checked us in, showed us to our room and served us dinner was exceptional.

Breakfast was good and plenty of choices on the menu. Dinner was good value for money, nice menu and drinks list. Had a superior room on the first floor which was very roomy, clean and comfortable and a view to the church. All the staff were helpful, lovely and friendly.

Breakfast and dinner very good pub food, well cooked and nicely presented. Bedroom quite small with several areas with low sloping ceilings, it would have been worth upgrading, not going for the basic double.

This was about second stay at the Chequers Inn. The staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. It is a very old building with charming character. The rooms are very well equipped and have great decor. The menu caters for all with a variety of choices which are cooked and presented to a high standard. The rooms are comfortable and are supplied with an iron, ironing board, hairdryer and a kettle with tea and coffee. The food and bar prices are very competitive. Will definitely be booking again.
