The food menu was excellent and the breakfast was lovely and all reasonably priced, the staff were nice and accommodating. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The garden was very nice. It was easy to get to with ample parking. There was a good range of amenities close by, for example; petrol station, inns, restaurants and a farm shop all within a few miles drive. You are also pretty close to an A road which means traveling around is easy.

The location was excellent. I chose Lydford because I knew it would be easy to access all the Dartmoor walks I had planned. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that it has its own attractions: Lydford Castle, Lydford Gorge, the White Lady, etc. All the staff at the Castle Inn really understand what good customer service means; I was treated very well by everyone. The food was also of a very high standard, indeed.

We arrived in a very rainy night. It might have been June but they had a log fire going which was very welcome. The rooms were comfortable and the bed and the pillows were amazing. Bathroom was clean but I’m personally not a lover of electric showers but it was ok. Food was excellent both for dinner and breakfast.
